Nechirvan Barzani calls for constructive criticism to strengthen Kurdistan
Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani addressed the seventh graduation ceremony of the American University of Kurdistan (AUK) in Duhok on September 17, 2026. During his speech, which was attended by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, the President emphasized that an advanced state is defined by its ability to recognize, discuss, and solve its mistakes.
Barzani stated that “constructive criticism does not weaken Kurdistan; rather, it leads to greater progress for the country.” He called upon the new graduates to take responsibility for identifying societal shortcomings and developing areas that have not yet reached their full potential.
Regarding national identity, Barzani defined true loyalty as respecting the sacrifices of martyrs and the Peshmerga forces to protect historical gains. He also addressed the rapid advancement of technology and artificial intelligence, advising the youth to utilize these tools while ensuring that decisions involving human conscience, ethics, and social service remain under human control.
