Necochea and Quequén residents face rising debt difficulties
A survey conducted by NECOnomía in Necochea and Quequén reveals widespread debt among local residents. According to the findings from August and September 2026, 83.8% of respondents reported taking on debt within the last year.
Of those who took on debt, 64.5% admitted to facing difficulties meeting their payment obligations. The study highlights that while debt can be used for investment or home improvements, a significant portion of the population is using credit to sustain basic consumption.
Credit cards were identified as the primary tool for indebtedness, followed by bank loans, digital wallets, and mobile applications. Additionally, many residents resorted to borrowing money from family or acquaintances. The report also noted that more than one-third of respondents used minimum payments as a financing mechanism or stopped using credit cards altogether due to an inability to cover installments.
