South America weather: Snow, sandstorms, and rain alerts

Various regions across South America are experiencing significant meteorological shifts as September begins.

In Argentina, the Servicio Meteorológico Nacional has issued alerts for the Neuquén mountain range due to unstable weather, including potential snowfall and rain. In Chubut, a yellow alert is in effect for the Cushamen cordillera, where snow accumulations of 15 to 30 centimeters are expected. Other areas like Necochea and Quequén face cold temperatures and potential rain, while Resistencia anticipates rising temperatures and increased fire risks due to dry winds.

Chile is seeing a transition in weather patterns. Senapred maintains a Red Alert for Antofagasta due to potential sandstorms and strong winds, while Atacama remains under a preventive alert. In central and southern Chile, a low-pressure system is expected to bring rain and possible electrical storms, particularly affecting regions from La Araucanía to Aysén and potentially reaching the Santiago metropolitan area.

In Uruguay, the northeast is forecasted to have cloudy skies, fog, and probable rainfall, with temperatures ranging between 12°C and 19°C.
