Necochea faces transport uncertainty after failed bus concession tender
The Municipality of Necochea and Quequén is facing uncertainty regarding its urban passenger transport service after a second attempt to award a 20-year concession failed. No companies purchased the bidding documents, which were priced at 3 million pesos, leaving the tender process empty for a second consecutive time.
The first bidding attempt also failed to attract interest, leading to a second call under similar conditions. With the current service extension set to expire on October 2, local authorities are analyzing potential changes to the tender conditions. Two firms have reportedly expressed interest in reviewing a possible new framework to ensure the continuity of the public transport system.
