Necochea official defends tree felling amid legal dispute
In Necochea, Argentina, the removal of the last two plane trees located in front of the Bar Association has escalated into a legal conflict. The felling took place on the morning of Sunday, September 6, following an administrative complaint by the Director of Park Rangers, Julián Zugazúa, and a filing with the UFI No. 20 to investigate alleged irregularities in the municipal file.
Jorge Martínez, the Secretary of Government, personally assumed responsibility for the decision, stating that the intervention was authorized by the Executive Department. Despite public questioning regarding the legality of the procedure and the existence of a criminal case, Martínez defended the action, asserting that the decision was resolved according to the municipal file and that the trees would be replaced.
