NECTEC marks 40 years by prioritizing Quantum, Space, and Physical AI

The National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (NECTEC) marked its 40th anniversary at the NECTEC ACE 2026 conference. The event focused on the theme ‘NECTEC 40 Years: Legacy & Beyond,’ highlighting the organization's evolution from a small group to a workforce of approximately 500 people.

To ensure Thailand transitions from a technology user to a creator, NECTEC and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) identified three key frontier technologies for national development: Quantum Technology, Space Communication, and Physical AI.

Additional strategic directions include the development of Photonic Semiconductors under the Siam Silica framework to build a complete ecosystem, and the advancement of a science-driven health economy. The initiative aims to prepare the nation for economic and industrial shifts expected over the next 10 to 20 years through workforce development, testing facilities, and cybersecurity readiness, specifically regarding post-quantum cryptography (PQC).
