Nedbank appoints former MTN executive Nikos Angelopoulos as group CIO
Nedbank Group announced that Nikos Angelopoulos will become its new Group Chief Information Officer, effective 1 September. Angelopoulos joins from MTN Group, where he served as Group CIO from 2018, overseeing IT strategy, investment and governance across 16 markets and supporting more than 300 million customers. He succeeds Ray Naicker, who led the bank’s technology modernization. Angelopoulos brings over 30 years of experience in digital, cloud, data and AI transformation, with previous senior roles at du, Vodafone and Accenture. He holds an Executive MBA from London Business School, an MSc from Imperial College London and a BSc in Physics from the University of Athens. Nedbank CEO Jason Quinn welcomed the appointment, citing the need for strong international technology leadership to advance the bank’s digital innovation agenda.
