Need for Speed Underground 2 playable in web browsers via fan project

A fan-led project titled Underground 2 Revived has enabled the 2004 racing game Need for Speed Underground 2 to be played directly in web browsers such as Chrome and Firefox. Developed by a user known as th0mk, the project uses WebAssembly and WebGPU technologies to run the original PC binary code without requiring installation, accounts, or launchers.

The project aims to provide a nostalgic experience that includes both solo play and an integrated online multiplayer mode for free roaming in the game's Bayview setting. The developer reportedly created the port to easily play the game with his brother, similar to how they played two decades ago.
