Microsoft to launch Copilot super app for consumers and businesses
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella announced that the company is building a unified Copilot “super app” that will bring together the AI chat experience, coding assistance, collaborative work tools (Copilot Cowork) and autonomous agents (Autopilot) in a single application. The platform is intended for both consumer and enterprise users, allowing a single sign‑in to switch between personal and business accounts. Microsoft aims to release the app before the end of the summer 2026, positioning it against similar efforts from OpenAI (ChatGPT Work) and Anthropic (Claude Cowork).
The announcement came alongside Microsoft’s FY 2026 Q4 earnings, where the firm reported $90 billion in revenue, driven by a 43 % year‑over‑year rise in Azure cloud sales and a surge in AI‑related services. Paid Microsoft 365 Copilot seats have now passed 30 million, underscoring rapid user adoption. Jacob Andreou, recently promoted to lead the Copilot effort, is overseeing the integration of the various AI components into the new super app.
