Neeraj Chopra discusses missing Asian Games due to injury
Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra has addressed his absence from the Asian Games, which was caused by a ligament injury sustained during training. The injury occurred shortly after Chopra achieved a season-best throw of 88.05m at the Lausanne Diamond League, effectively ending his 2026 competitive season and preventing him from competing in the Diamond League Final.
Speaking on the Sports Authority of India’s Khelo Bharat Podcast, the Olympic gold medalist expressed the difficulty of the setback but emphasized the necessity of accepting it to focus on rehabilitation. Chopra noted that while such injuries have occurred previously in his career, the timing was particularly frustrating as he felt he had regained his peak form and consistency just before the injury occurred.
