Neeraj Chopra set for Lausanne Diamond League javelin meet
Two‑time Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra, fresh from a silver‑medal performance at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, is slated to compete at the Lausanne Diamond League (Athletissima) on 21 August. The meet will feature a stacked field of world‑class javelin throwers, including Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan, Sri Lanka’s Pathirage, Trinidad and Tobago’s Walcott, Grenada’s Peters, and European and American rivals.
Chopra’s season‑best of 85.83 m placed him second at the Commonwealth Games, and he currently sits seventh in the Diamond League standings. His participation underscores the growing prominence of the Indian subcontinent in global javelin, and he is widely regarded in India as the nation’s greatest ever athlete.
