Negeri Sembilan opposition slams postponement of state assembly sitting

Eleven Pakatan Harapan (PH) assemblymen in Negeri Sembilan have criticized the state government for postponing a scheduled state assembly sitting without providing official notification through formal channels.

State opposition leader J Arul Kumar stated that while Menteri Besar Ismail Lasim mentioned a postponement during a press conference last week, the assemblymen received no written confirmation or updates via the state government’s e-Dewan online portal. The sitting, which was intended to run until October 22 and include the swearing-in of assemblymen, was expected to be opened by the Yang Dipertuan Besar.

Arul expressed concern that the lack of legislative sessions prevents assemblymen from representing their voters and discussing policy issues. He also questioned whether the postponement was linked to the Menteri Besar currently lacking an executive council following the recent revocation of appointments by the ruler.
