Negeri Sembilan palace warns parties against politicising royalty as police probe TikTok claim

The Negeri Sembilan palace issued a statement urging all political parties contesting the state election to refrain from using the royal institution in campaign speeches or activities, emphasizing that the monarchy remains strictly neutral. Comptroller of the Royal Household Azizi Mohamad Ali advised the public to rely only on the palace’s official communications and to avoid spreading unverified information.

Separately, Negeri Sembilan police opened an investigation into a TikTok video that alleged a political party had taken control of the palace. Police chief Alzafny Ahmad said the case is being examined under the Election Offences Act, the Penal Code and the Communications and Multimedia Act, and warned the public not to circulate the video or speculate on its content. The election is scheduled for 1 August, and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has also called for the royal institution to stay out of political campaigning.
