Nego do Borel given five days to settle R$50,000 IPTU debt in Rio de Janeiro
The Rio de Janeiro court ordered Brazilian singer Nego do Borel, whose legal name is Leno Maycon Viana Gomes, to pay an outstanding municipal property‑tax (IPTU) debt of R$50,513.03. The debt relates to his apartment in the Recreio dos Bandeirantes neighborhood and accrued between 2021 and 2024.
Because the artist could not be served personally, the court issued a public notice (edital) requiring payment or a request for installment within five days of the notice’s publication. If the amount remains unpaid, the justice system may authorize measures such as blocking bank accounts and eventually seizing the property.
