Negombo District General Hospital commissions Rs. 177 Mn CT scanner

A new CT scanner has been commissioned at the Negombo District General Hospital to enhance diagnostic services for patients in the Negombo area and surrounding regions. The equipment was installed at a cost of Rs. 177 million, funded via a concessional loan facility from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Health Minister Nalinda Jayatissa attended the commissioning ceremony, noting that the new machine will reduce the need for patients to be referred to Ragama Teaching Hospital or Welisara Hospital, thereby lowering travel time and costs.

In addition to the CT scanner, an eye clinic building renovated for Rs. 29 million through donor contributions was opened, and a fitness centre established by the Ministry of Health's Non-Communicable Diseases Unit was inspected.
