Negu Gorriak collective sends aid brigade to Ceuta

The anticapitalist collective Negu Gorriak-Derecho a Techo, based in Pamplona, is sending a brigade to Ceuta to deliver humanitarian aid, including phones, batteries, chargers, and basic supplies. The group aims to support migrants following a large arrival in the enclave on July 30.

Members of the collective have called for “disobedience,” stating they intend to act as a “human shield” against what they describe as violence toward migrants. They also plan to monitor the actions of the police, Civil Guard, and the Army. The group has expressed concerns regarding the theft of mobile phones from migrants, which they believe is a tactic used to obstruct asylum requests.

The mission has faced significant local opposition. Residents of Ceuta have expressed through social media that the group is unwelcome, stating they do not wish for the arrival of radical organizations that they believe could destabilize the city's social cohesion and security.
