Neha Sinha's 'My Wild City' underscores nature's role in Delhi

Conservation biologist Neha Sinha is set to release *My Wild City: Finding Nature, Meaning, and Hope in India’s Capital*, a book that maps the hidden and visible ecosystems of Delhi. While detailing the city’s biodiversity, Sinha stresses that urban nature is vital for people’s emotional well‑being, sharing personal anecdotes such as caring for her ailing father and finding solace in a Bombax ceiba tree.

She recounts how the COVID‑19 lockdown sparked a “balcony birding” movement, offering residents a sense of connection and calm. The book also highlights the polluted Yamuna River, once home to dolphins, and notes ongoing efforts to re‑wild the river and restore its image in the public imagination. Sinha hopes the narrative will inspire both citizens and policymakers to value and protect urban ecosystems.
