Nehal Wadhera reflects on challenging IPL 2026 season
Punjab Kings batter Nehal Wadhera has reflected on a challenging IPL 2026 season, describing the period as a learning experience following a significant dip in form. After scoring 369 runs in 16 games during the 2025 season, the 25-year-old managed only 65 runs across eight matches in the 2026 tournament.
Wadhera credited head coach Ricky Ponting for providing crucial mental support during his slump. Wadhera noted that Ponting personally approached him to offer reassurance and affirm his role within the squad, which helped maintain his mindset despite the lack of runs. The batter also acknowledged the positive environment fostered by captain Shreyas Iyer and the broader coaching staff.
Despite the underwhelming performance, Wadhera stated that he does not attribute the results to a lack of preparation, noting that he prepared even harder this year. He expressed determination to use the setback to bounce back stronger in future opportunities.
