Neighborhood leadership disputes emerge in Chuquisaca and Juliaca

In Sucre, Bolivia, the Departmental Federation of Neighborhood Councils (Fejuve) of Chuquisaca has formally rejected the attempt to create a parallel ‘Municipal Fejuve’. Bruno Coa, president of Fejuve Chuquisaca, and José Flores, general secretary of the National Confederation of Neighborhood Councils (Conaljuve), denounced the initiative as an illegal move driven by former leaders and political operators seeking to divide the organization. Coa stated that the promoters of this parallel structure lack an organic base and will be referred to the Honor and Disciplinary Tribunal for sanctions and expulsion.

In Juliaca, Peru, Otoniel Flores Choque, former president of the Four Zones of Juliaca, has warned of a leadership crisis where two different sectors are claiming the presidency without legal recognition. Flores Choque noted that this division weakens the ability of neighborhoods and urbanizations to represent their interests before the authorities of the San Román province. He urged leaders to reach an agreement through a transparent electoral process to restore unity and prioritize urban development over individual interests.
