Neighbors in Poland rescue child falling from balcony
In Lomza, Poland, three men successfully rescued a four-year-old girl after she fell from a fifth-floor balcony. The neighbors used an improvised safety net made from a blanket to catch the child as she fell.
Surveillance footage from the residential building captured the moment the men spread the blanket on a ground-floor terrace just seconds before the child landed in it. Although the impact caused the girl to slide from the blanket onto the ground, resulting in a minor head injury, a local doctor confirmed she sustained no serious injuries.
Police reported that the child's mother was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, recording a blood alcohol level of 0.7 per mille. Both the mother and the child were taken to a hospital.
