Neil Jordan discusses 4K restoration of Interview with the Vampire

Director Neil Jordan is discussing the upcoming 4K UHD Blu-ray release of the gothic vampire film ‘Interview with the Vampire’, scheduled for September 22, 2026. The restoration allows the film to be scanned frame by frame, providing an opportunity to return the movie to its original visual intent.

The release will include new special features and previously unseen deleted scenes. Jordan expressed regret over cutting a dramatic sequence involving the character Louis in a church confessional, noting that the scene captured the film’s themes of suffering and torture.

Jordan also reflected on working with Tom Cruise, noting the actor's ability to balance cruelty and flamboyance, particularly during difficult scenes. The 4K release aims to bring the film back to life for viewers after decades of potentially degraded prints.
