Neil Pierre called up to USMNT for training camp

Eighteen-year-old center back Neil Pierre has been called up to the U.S. Men’s National Team (USMNT) for a two-week training camp in Atlanta. Pierre is one of 13 players seeking their international debut as the squad prepares for a series of home friendlies, including a match against Peru.

Pierre has experienced a rapid rise in professional football over the last year. After signing with the Philadelphia Union, he spent a successful loan period with the Danish club Lyngby, helping the team earn promotion to the Superliga. Since returning to the Union, the 6-foot-7 defender has become a key figure in their defense, starting 11 of his last 14 appearances and contributing four goals.

USMNT coach Mauricio Pochettino highlighted Pierre’s potential, noting that the young defender’s physical presence and ability compare favorably to more experienced players. Pochettino emphasized the importance of supporting the development of talented players already competing in MLS.
