NEL Hydrogen US secures $12 million electrolyzer order

NEL Hydrogen US, a subsidiary of the Norwegian hydrogen specialist NEL ASA, has secured a contract valued at approximately $12 million from an unnamed US technology company. The order consists of several MC-series containerized PEM electrolyzers and associated services.

The electrolyzers are designed for on-site hydrogen production, utilizing a containerized platform intended to reduce installation and integration efforts. Production of the stacks is scheduled to take place at the company’s facility in Wallingford, Connecticut, with delivery expected in 2027.

Todd Cartwright, Chief Commercial Officer of NEL Hydrogen, noted that the company sees strong momentum for the MC platform, particularly among customers with demanding technical and operational requirements. While the contract provides a concrete project reference, analysts note the amount is relatively modest compared to NEL ASA’s total order backlog and recent quarterly losses.
