Nelson Calisto named finalist for Chile's Profe TP 2026 teaching award
Nelson Calisto, a construction teacher at Liceo Politécnico de Castro in the Los Lagos Region, has been selected as one of three national finalists for the Reconocimiento Profe TP 2026. The award, organized by the non‑governmental organization ONG Canales with the backing of Banco de Chile, honors outstanding teachers in Chile's technical‑professional secondary education.
The final three candidates are Francisca Yáñez of the Instituto Politécnico Bicentenario Juan Terrier Dailly in Curicó, Katherine Ardiles of the Liceo Bicentenario Politécnico de Ovalle, and Calisto. While the main prize is decided by an expert jury, the special "Premio Impacto" will be chosen by votes from students, alumni, colleagues, school leaders, families and community members between 3 and 21 August. The initiative aims to strengthen technical‑professional education and highlight teachers who transform lives across Chile.
