Nelson Castro conducts Orquesta Sinfónica del Neuquén

Journalist Nelson Castro conducted the Orquesta Sinfónica del Neuquén in a sold-out concert at the Cine Teatro Español. The event, organized by Fundación BPN, featured a repertoire including works by Gioachino Rossini, Maurice Ravel, Jean Sibelius, and George Gershwin.

Castro shared conducting duties with maestro Andrés Tolcachir. Notable performances included Castro’s direction of Sibelius’s ‘Finlandia’ and Tolcachir’s direction of Ravel’s ‘Bolero’. Castro, who began studying music at age 10, noted that while journalism takes him to wars and significant global events, music brings him to beauty.

Castro praised the high level of the Neuquén orchestra and expressed interest in returning for future performances when his schedule permits.
