Nelson Chamisa claims CCC exit vindicated by Senate appointments

Former opposition leader Nelson Chamisa has claimed that his departure from the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) was vindicated following the Senate appointment of Brilliant Dube by President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Chamisa alleged that the CCC had been infiltrated by ZANU PF agents and described the party as a “snake pit” that had been hijacked.

Critics and observers have raised several allegations regarding Chamisa’s leadership of the CCC, including claims that the party lacked a democratic constitution, lacked clear leadership structures, and purged experienced leaders. There are also allegations that state security services, such as the army and Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO), influenced internal party decisions, including the dismissal of spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere.

Chamisa has criticized President Mnangagwa’s administration, comparing the current scale of state capture, bribery, and constitutional manipulation to the era of Robert Mugabe. He asserted that the recent appointments to the Senate demonstrate the endgame of manipulating the Constitution to extend terms in office.
