Nelson Cruz rejects Major League Baseball managerial offers

Former Dominican baseball player Nelson Cruz has declined offers to manage Major League Baseball (MLB) teams, stating that such roles do not align with his current professional aspirations. Cruz indicated that the intense time commitment required for managing—including being the first to arrive and last to leave the stadium—is not a priority for him after a long playing career.

Instead, Cruz is focusing on advisory roles within the industry. He currently serves as an advisor for the Los Angeles Dodgers, collaborates with the MLB Commissioner’s Office, and works as an advisor for the Gigantes del Cibao in the Dominican Winter League.

Reflecting on his transition from playing, Cruz also emphasized the importance of education for young Dominican athletes, advising them to pursue academic preparation to ensure they have viable career alternatives beyond professional sports.
