Nelson Mandela Bay allocates R60 million for power infrastructure upgrades
Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality announced a R60 million investment to modernise its electricity network. The funding includes R35 million to replace the ageing Chelsea–Summerstrand 132 kV powerline and R25 million to strengthen the grid within the Coega Special Economic Zone. The upgrades aim to improve supply reliability, reduce network vulnerability, support residential, commercial and industrial demand, and attract further investment to the metro's tourism, hospitality and industrial sectors. Mayor Babalwa Lobishe said a reliable electricity network is essential for economic growth and positioning the city as a destination of choice for investors and businesses.
