Nelson Palacio to miss remainder of season after surgery
Toronto FC midfielder Nelson Palacio will miss the remainder of the 2026 Major League Soccer season following thigh surgery. The 25-year-old Colombian midfielder underwent the procedure on Tuesday, according to a club announcement.
Palacio joined Toronto FC in July via a transfer from Real Salt Lake valued at $1.1 million, with potential performance-based increases up to $1.65 million. Despite passing his initial medical upon arrival, the player struggled with a lingering lower-body injury that prevented him from making his debut for the club.
General manager Jason Hernandez expressed disappointment regarding the setback, noting that Palacio had been attempting to recondition for nearly two months. The club stated it will provide full support throughout his rehabilitation process.
