Nelson residents protest frequent nighttime fireworks

Residents in Nelson, Lancashire, are protesting frequent nighttime fireworks that are causing widespread sleep deprivation. Local resident Lydia Ann Kay reported that her family, including a young child with noise sensitivities, is being woken up by pyrotechnic displays that occur as often as once a week and sometimes last until 4:00 AM.

In response to the ongoing disturbances, a local petition has gathered more than 2,100 signatures. Residents are calling for stricter regulations on fireworks, lower noise limits, and better controls on sales, alongside measures to address noisy vehicles and dangerous driving.

Pendle Borough Council has acknowledged the petition, stating that noise complaints regarding fireworks and vehicles should be directed to the police. The situation has become so disruptive that some affected families are considering moving away from the area.
