NEMA distributes disaster relief in Abia and Lagos states
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has launched relief distribution efforts to support victims of natural disasters in Nigeria.
In Abia State, the state government, in collaboration with NEMA and the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), has begun distributing food and non-food relief materials to those affected by gully erosion and windstorms in the Umuahia South and Ohafia Local Government Areas. This intervention follows a joint rapid assessment conducted to identify the specific needs of the impacted communities.
Simultaneously, NEMA has commenced the distribution of federal relief materials in Lagos State to assist households affected by recent flooding. The rollout covers five Local Government Areas: Kosofe, Alimosho, Lagos Island, Ikeja, and Eti Osa. The distribution in Kosofe was conducted alongside the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and local community leaders to provide immediate support to vulnerable households.
