Nenad Bošnjak arrested after threatening man and child in Sveti Ivan Žabno

Nenad Bošnjak, the mayor of the municipality of Sveti Ivan Žabno in Croatia, was arrested on suspicion of threatening a 31‑year‑old man during an altercation that also involved a baby in the vehicle. Police reported that Bošnjak and his two sons, aged 27 and 23, approached the stopped car, shouted, made loud noises and struck the vehicle, disturbing public order. A misdemeanor complaint was filed against the three men for “drastic and indecent disturbance of public peace.” Bošnjak was additionally placed under a criminal investigation for a possible threat of death against the 31‑year‑old, and a special report was submitted to the state prosecutor. Preventive measures include a ban on approaching or contacting the victim and the temporary confiscation of firearms owned by Bošnjak (58) and his older son. Bošnjak denied the accusations, claiming the allegations are false. The local branch of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) called for his resignation, stating that he has lost the moral and political authority required for his office.
