Neoenergia alerts hundreds of thousands of Brazilian families to update registration or lose social electricity discount

Neoenergia, Brazil's electricity distributor, warned that more than 330,000 families in Bahia and about 4,800 families in the Três Lagoas region of Mato Grosso do Sul face loss of the Tarifa Social de Energia Elétrica (TSEE) if their data are not aligned between the federal Cadastro Único (CadÚnico) and the utility's records.

The social tariff guarantees free electricity for the first 80 kWh a month for low‑income households, seniors, people with disabilities, indigenous and quilombola families, and those with health‑related electricity needs. To keep the benefit, families must ensure that CadÚnico information, the address registered with Neoenergia, and the name on the account all match. Neoenergia Coelba is conducting mobile outreach visits in cities such as Feira de Santana, Vitória da Conquista, Juazeiro and Simões Filho, while Neoenergia Elektro urged families in Três Lagoas, Brasilândia, Anaurilândia, Selvíria and Santa Rita do Pardo to visit their nearest Centro de Referência de Assistência Social (CRAS) for updates. Failure to correct discrepancies could result in the suspension of the discount.
