Neofytos Handriotis Tournament begins in Cyprus with top European clubs

The Neofytos Handriotis Tournament is taking place in Nicosia, Cyprus, featuring high-level European basketball clubs. The event, organized by ETHA Engkomi and Pneuma Propotions, honors the memory of the late basketball player Neofytos Handriotis.

Aris Thessaloniki faces Maccabi Tel Aviv in a friendly match as part of the tournament. Aris travels to Cyprus with a limited roster of 12 players due to injuries and the absence of Stefanos Jovitic. Maccabi coach Oded Kattas expressed hope for improved team cohesion and rhythm during these preseason tests.

Olympiacos Piraeus, the reigning European and Greek champions, is also participating with a full roster including stars such as Sasha Vezenkov, Kostas Papanikolaou, and Evan Fournier. Olympiacos is scheduled to face Red Star Belgrade. The tournament serves as a significant preseason showcase for clubs preparing for the upcoming Euroleague and domestic seasons.
