NeoGeo AES+ console release delayed to September 2027

The release of the NeoGeo AES+ classic console, a collaboration between SNK and Plaion, has been delayed until September 2027. Originally intended for a 2026 release, the delay is attributed to a global chip shortage driven by high demand for AI data centers.

To address the shortage of Parallel NOR flash memory, the development team is implementing a solution using ASIC chips within the game cartridges to manage memory communication. This technical adjustment has added approximately ten months to the production timeline.

The console is a modern reproduction of the 1990 NeoGeo hardware, featuring HDMI output for Full HD resolution and compatibility with older cartridges. While the console itself is priced around US$200, complete packages including games and controllers can cost nearly US$1,000. Announced titles for the system include Metal Slug, The King of Fighters 2002, Garou: Mark of the Wolves, and Big Tournament.
