Neoliner Origin completes first call at Zeebrugge

The wind-powered cargo vessel Neoliner Origin completed its first call at PSA Zeebrugge on September 21, 2026. This visit marks the vessel’s first arrival in Belgium and integrates Zeebrugge into NEOLINE’s regular transatlantic service.

Developed with support from CMA CGM, the 136-meter roll-on/roll-off vessel utilizes two foldable SolidSail masts providing 3,000 square meters of sail area. This design allows the ship to use wind as its primary propulsion, supplemented by an auxiliary diesel-electric system, aiming to reduce fuel consumption by more than 80% compared to conventional vessels.

The expanded service rotation connects Zeebrugge with Montoir-de-Bretagne, Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, Baltimore, and Halifax. The addition of the Zeebrugge hub, part of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, is intended to meet demand from European shippers seeking lower-carbon transport solutions for automotive and out-of-gauge cargo. The rotation is expected to take five weeks during summer and six weeks during winter.
