Neon schedules Nov. 25 2026 theatrical release for Ryusuke Hamaguchi's 'All of a Sudden
Neon announced that the Ryusuke Hamaguchi‑directed French‑Japanese drama All of a Sudden will open exclusively in theaters on 25 November 2026. The film premiered in competition at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, where its two leads – Virginie Efira and Tao Okamoto – shared the Palme d’Or award for Best Actress.
Neon plans an awards‑season campaign for the release. The story follows Marie‑Lou, who runs a care facility for the elderly in France, and Japanese theater director Mari, who is battling cancer, as they develop a new philosophy of care. Production involves Cinefrance Studios (France), Office Shirous and Bitters End (Japan), Heimatfilm (Germany) and Tarantula (Belgium). Hamaguchi, whose previous film Drive My Car won the Academy Award for Best International Feature, has an extensive record of festival accolades.
The announcement adds to Neon’s 2026 slate, which includes projects from Luca Guadagnino, Cristian Mungiu, James Gray and Na Hong‑Jin, and follows the studio’s recent Oscar nominations and box‑office successes.
