Neon to produce SCP Foundation horror anthology film

Neon has announced it is developing an anthology horror film based on the SCP Foundation, a community-driven speculative fiction universe. The project, which is slated for a 2027 release, intends to focus on platforming emerging filmmakers.

In a move to address concerns regarding community-generated intellectual property, Neon has committed to releasing the film and its related materials under the Creative Commons CC BY-SA license. This approach ensures that the studio will not maintain permanent exclusive control, allowing other creators to copy, share, or adapt the work commercially, provided they credit the original creators and follow the same licensing terms.

This announcement follows recent friction between the SCP Foundation Wiki team and A24. The Wiki's licensing team previously expressed concerns that A24's planned adaptation, titled ‘V/H/S: SCP’, was being developed without consultation with the community authors or administrators. The Wiki team emphasized that A24 does not hold exclusive rights to the SCP Foundation IP.
