Neonazis disrupt anti‑mosque protest in Sevilla, police deployed

A group of neonazis broke into a demonstration in Sevilla's Polígono Sur that was organised to oppose a planned mosque and cultural centre. The gathering attracted roughly fifty participants, among them members of the far‑right group Núcleo Nacional and three Vox city councilors, as well as regional parliamentarian Cristina Peláez.

The Spanish National Police sent three vans to the site to prevent escalation. According to local sources, no arrests or identifications were made during the protest. The municipal urban‑planning commission is slated to meet on Tuesday, where it is expected to approve the building licence for the mosque project. The plan includes a mosque, a minaret and a cultural centre on a 2,848 m² plot on Avenida Victoria Domínguez Cerrato, which was bought from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints for €800,000 plus VAT. The complex is being designed by architect Guillermo Vázquez Consuegra.
