Asian Games 2026: Rain washes out cricket quarter-finals
Heavy rain in Nisshin, Japan, has disrupted the men's cricket quarter-finals at the 2026 Asian Games, resulting in both scheduled matches being abandoned without a ball being bowled.
Due to tournament regulations, the higher-ranked ICC T20I team advances to the semi-finals in the event of a washout. Consequently, Pakistan (ranked 6th) has secured a semi-final berth after their match against Hong Kong, China (ranked 24th) was called off. Similarly, India (ranked 1st) has progressed to the semi-finals following the abandonment of their quarter-final against Afghanistan (ranked 10th).
Beyond cricket, India's overall campaign remains active across multiple disciplines. The nation has accumulated 37 medals so far, including four golds, 16 silvers, and 17 bronzes. Upcoming schedules include competitions in archery, shooting, athletics, and squash. In shooting, athletes such as Manu Bhaker and Esha Singh are set to compete in key events.
