Nepal arrests 24 South Korean Christians at Bible college
Nepalese police arrested 24 South Korean Christians on October 9 at the Nepal New Covenant College (NNCC) in the Morang District. The arrests followed complaints alleging “illegal religious teaching, training, and promotion.”
Sarad KC, the principal of NNCC, stated that the visitors were interacting with believers within the college and were not preaching or sharing the gospel in public for proselytization. The college has provided theological courses for Nepalese Christians since 2013.
The incident has raised concerns regarding increasing hostility toward the Christian minority in Nepal, which comprises approximately 5% of the population. Observers note a trend of rising religious tension and reported targeting of religious minorities in the region.
