Nepal authorities search for 20 missing bank safes after flash floods
Following catastrophic flash floods in Nepal, authorities are urgently searching for the safes of at least 20 banks that were swept away or buried under mud. The floods caused widespread destruction in regions including Rasuwa, Dhading, and Chitwan.
These missing safes are believed to contain significant amounts of cash, gold, and other valuable assets. While rescue operations to find thousands of missing persons remain the top priority, police are also deploying forces to maintain security and protect assets from theft.
Challenges have intensified as reports of looting have emerged. In Dhading, authorities have already arrested 29 individuals accused of involvement in the theft of 92 lakh NPR from broken-into safes.
