Nepal Department of Passports sets record e-passport production

Nepal’s Department of Passports (DoP) achieved a record production of 5,878 e-passports in a single day on August 10. This figure represents nearly four times the previous daily capacity of approximately 1,500.

The DoP stated that the increase in production is part of an effort to meet rising demand and provide citizens with faster, more secure, and efficient services. The department is currently producing more than 5,000 passports daily and is undergoing further expansion to ensure timely delivery.

To support this growth, the DoP is coordinating with district administration offices across all 77 districts and Nepali diplomatic missions abroad. Additionally, technical and managerial measures are being implemented to stabilize the e-passport system and resolve technical issues within the next three months.
