Nepal Finance Minister calls on overseas Nepalis to invest

Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle addressed a virtual conference of young Nepali entrepreneurs in Australia, urging the Nepali diaspora to remain confident in the government's commitment to the principle “once a Nepali, always a Nepali.” He described overseas Nepalis as goodwill ambassadors for Nepal’s development and highlighted the new administration’s focus on good governance, merit‑based policies and zero tolerance for corruption.

Wagle noted that the government’s first 100 days have seen tax, revenue and expenditure reforms, and introduced investment instruments such as NRNA Bonds, offshore bonds and other alternative financing mechanisms. He called on Nepalis abroad, particularly in Australia where they constitute about one percent of the population, to lead in channeling both personal and foreign investment into Nepal, offering to facilitate the repatriation of investment returns and inviting suggestions for further measures to boost economic recovery.
