Nepal flood survivor found alive after 10 days missing

A 64-year-old woman, Chandika Kumari Shrestha, was discovered alive after being missing for 10 days following a devastating flash flood in Nepal. The flood, which occurred on August 26, swept through the Bhotekoshi River basin, destroying numerous structures and burying parts of Betrawati in Nuwakot district.

Search efforts were severely hindered by thick layers of mud and debris that had hardened like concrete. As days passed without any sign of life, Shrestha’s family, believing she had perished, began performing traditional mourning rituals. On the tenth day of the search, rescue teams approaching a partially buried four-story building heard a faint sound coming from within the ruins, leading to her unexpected discovery.
