Nepal floods: Army deploys cable lifeline over Trishuli River
In Nepal's Nuwakot district, flash floods and landslides have destroyed critical infrastructure, including roads and bridges, leaving many villages isolated. The Trishuli River has become a major barrier for residents attempting to reach their homes and families.
To address the crisis, the Nepalese Army has installed a provisional 250-meter steel cable lifeline in Bidur. This makeshift system allows people to cross the raging floodwaters, with soldiers and locals manually pulling the cable to transport individuals to the other side.
The army plans to establish four additional crossings along the river. However, aid organizations warn that the situation remains critical, as many areas in the district are still cut off from essential supplies and the outside world.
