Nepal floods cause mass casualties as Cyprus and Greece face emergencies

In Nepal, at least 95 people have died and hundreds remain missing following devastating floods and landslides in the Himalayan region. The disaster, triggered by an ice and rock slide that blocked the Lente Kola river, caused a massive surge of water through the Bote Koshi river. Approximately 384 tourists are reported missing, including citizens from India, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

In Cyprus, emergency services are managing multiple incidents. In Peristerona, a vehicle fire occurred during ongoing search efforts for a missing person in the Tsakkistras area. Additionally, the discovery of an unexploded 81mm shell during a forest fire operation in the Agia Anna area near the Kalo Chorio firing range has renewed local concerns regarding the safety of military training near residential zones.

In Greece, firefighters were deployed to combat a wildfire in the Prinia area of the Gourna municipality in Herakleion, Crete. Authorities reported that the fire was brought under control, though personnel remained on-site to monitor the situation.
