Nepal floods devastate Rasuwa district and Syaphrubesi

Severe flooding and landslides have struck the Rasuwa district in northern Nepal, near the border with Tibet. On August 26, violent surges along the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers caused significant destruction to homes, bridges, roads, and critical infrastructure, leaving thousands homeless and causing casualties.

The area of Syaphrubesi has been particularly hard hit. While some displaced persons have sought refuge in a local monastery, resources are rapidly depleting, creating an urgent need for food, blankets, and clothing. Damage to local roads has complicated relief efforts and the delivery of supplies to the most affected zones.

In response, humanitarian organizations such as Cecy Onlus and the Monviso Nepal Foundation have launched fundraising efforts to provide essential aid. Additionally, local activists and organizations like Apeiron, which operates a shelter for women in Kathmandu, are monitoring the situation as the capital serves as a logistical hub for emergency response and medical care.
