Nepal floods: One Spanish citizen located as missing count rises
One of three Spanish citizens reported missing following devastating floods in northern Nepal has been located, according to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). Two other Spanish nationals remain missing.
The floods, triggered by the overflowing of the Bhote Koshi River, have caused a massive humanitarian crisis. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has increased the total number of missing persons to 1,924. This updated figure includes over 900 workers from hydroelectric projects that were destroyed by the water.
Among the missing are hundreds of international tourists. Reported missing include 98 Indian citizens, 65 Americans, 61 Ukrainians, 51 Malaysians, 35 Australians, and 33 British nationals. Security forces and tourist police have successfully evacuated 121 foreign visitors from the affected areas so far.
