Nepal government and medical association sign deal to end doctors' nationwide protest

The Government of Nepal and the Nepal Medical Association (NMA) reached a five‑point agreement that ends the nationwide doctors' strike. The deal commits the government to fully implement the Health Worker and Health Institution Security Act of 2009, promptly issue implementation guidelines, strengthen legal action against attacks on health workers and vandalism at health facilities, improve coordination among relevant ministries, and prepare a security action plan for health institutions. A joint task force of the government and the NMA will oversee and regularly review the implementation. Following the pact, the NMA suspended all protest activities and doctors are set to resume regular health services across the country.
